Conservation Groups And The Overuse Of AI

We implore all conservation groups to take a moment before using AI in their awareness campaigns. Recently there has been an uptick in organizations using poorly generated content to illustrate very real wildlife issues. Unfortunately it looks so fake using un-real imagery to illustrate a very real issue. It’s confusing to the viewer. It’s self-defeating. Recent research has determined that people gravitate to reality when engaging with content. AI has its purpose but overuse in campaigns could have severe repercussions going forward. Strong moving and still photography capturing raw emotion, whether it be human or animal will elicit a far stronger reaction than some digital fakery.
